Me & Magdalena

about

In the spirit of sharing music, I recorded a cover of one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite songwriters—Me & Magdalena by Ben Gibbard. The cover art is a photo of the Point Sur Lighthouse that I took on a road trip through California in 2010. Mr. Gibbard wrote this song 5 years after I took this photo, but the lyrics perfectly sum up the trip on which this photo was taken (eerily, the exact moment).

I hope you enjoy it, I hope you stay healthy, and if you’re up for it, I hope to see you at a show in the very near future!

lyrics

Me and Magdalena
We're driving south through Monterey
As the sun is slowly sinking
Into a distant ocean wave
And I don't know if I've ever loved any other
Half as much as I do in this light she's under

Tell me Magdalena
What do you see in the depths of your night?
Do you see a long lost father?
Does he hold you with the hands you remember as a child?
Well everything lost will be recovered
When you drift into the arms of the undiscovered
And I don't know if I've ever loved any other
Half as much as I do in this light she's under

Me and Magdalena
Always leaving early and sleeping late
Secluded in the canyon
Lost within a turn of fate
And I don't know if I've ever loved any other
Half as much as I do in this light she's under
No I don't know if I've ever loved any other
Half as much as I do in this light she's under
